Assignment: Create a single image cover poster along with 5-6 additional carousel slides that provide explanation of an event including an infographic. This assigned project focused on visual hierarchy, white space, alignment and motion.
With this social media design project, I wanted to attempt to design a carousel that expressed the anticipation behind the Belgian Grand Prix from the point of view of the McLaren Racing team. I chose this event due to fact that I was working on McLaren based project in a different class. I thought it would be interesting to see what it would like to fully flush out a social design or campaign demonstrating the anxiousness we all felt as the grand prix quickly approached.
With my sketch book and brainstoring sheet I sketched out a number of different possibilities that I had in mind for the project. Due to the fact that the grand prix was the result of a sponsorship between Moet & Chandon. The champagne element was one that I knew that I didn’t want to compromise on. Maybe at a later time I would be willing to redesign and compromise the champagne element but in the height of designing I knew it had to serve as the foundation. I also knew that a foundation element had to be the iconic Papaya Orange that is synonomous with the McLaren brand. In the process of this project I used Photoshop, Express and Illustrator to obtain the motion and other elements that I felt best contributed to the overall design.
